About Espai Quera

Located in the heart of Barcelona’s historic Ciutat Vella district, Espai Quera brings together the warmth of a traditional Catalonian restaurant with the relaxed energy of a modern dining space. Tucked along Carrer de Petritxol, this spot feels like the kind of place you discover while wandering through the old streets and instantly want to stay a while. The atmosphere is cozy yet lively, blending local character with a comfortable dine-in experience that suits both casual lunches and slower evening meals. Inside, the setting has a welcoming feel, making it easy to settle in over a glass of wine or a freshly brewed coffee while exploring the menu.

The food at Espai Quera leans into authentic Catalonian flavors without feeling overly formal. Small plates are a big part of the experience here, so it’s easy to mix and match different dishes while sharing around the table. You’ll notice a balance between hearty regional ingredients and lighter options, especially with the healthy selections and fresh salad bar choices available. For guests who enjoy pairing meals with drinks, the restaurant also offers beer, wine, and stronger spirits, creating a relaxed social vibe that fits naturally with Barcelona’s dining culture.

Another thing that stands out about Espai Quera is how comfortable and unhurried the space feels. Some restaurants in busy tourist areas can feel rushed, but this one has a calmer rhythm that encourages conversation and slow dining. Whether someone stops by for a quick midday bite or plans a longer dinner with drinks and shared plates, the onsite service keeps everything smooth and friendly. The combination of Catalonian tradition, inviting surroundings, and flavorful food gives Espai Quera a personality that feels both local and easy to enjoy for visitors exploring the city.

A true gem in the Gothic Quarter! Espai Quera offers incredible Catalan cuisine in a beautiful, historic setting. The dishes are creative and flavorful, the wine list is excellent, and the service is warm and attentive. Perfect spot for a memorable meal in Barcelona – highly recommended!

We stumbled upon a hidden gem in the central area of Barcelona—a delightful mix of a real library and a restaurant. The atmosphere was cozy and full of character, with historical and art-related touches that made the experience truly unique. The food was absolutely awesome—tasty, well-prepared, and full of rich flavors. The welcoming host added a personal touch, making us feel right at home. We were absolutely stunned to find this place and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable experience with a cultural twist.

Tucked away in a small side street so rely on your maps to get here, because it's well worth it! The meatballs were some of the best I've ever tasted. Simply divine. Try both the black and white vermouth as well! And as you wait for your food, remember to check out all the books around you as this is a library/book shop The shop owner (?) gentleman was extremely nice and friendly and seemed genuinely happy being there and made the whole experience more enjoyable. Big smile on his face all the time! Definitely recommend this place. One of the most memorable meals in Barcelona for us

Excellent place full of history. The lady owner was I think the 5th generation to own the "Map Shop" and now Tapas restaurant. As she said no one buys maps today it's all on the internet. Hence the diversification to also doing Tapas.

Incredible find. Small bookstore with restaurant. The owner is 4th generation bookseller that has opened the perfect restaurant in the previous living area of the space. Highly recommend the artichoke omelet and tuna belly salad. Everything was delicious. The owner shared his family and the bookstore history with us, check out the family photos on the wall. Beautiful hidden gem. Highly recommend reservations.

A true hidden gem in the heart of Barcelona! Stepping into this charming historic bookstore feels like entering another world. From the outside, you’d never guess that it’s also a cozy spot to enjoy delicious homemade food. The owner not only prepares each dish with care but is also happy to share the fascinating story behind the place. It’s the perfect escape from the busy tourist areas—a peaceful haven filled with character, history, and flavor. Highly recommended!

really cosy little restaurant tucked inside a historic bookshop run by several generations of family members and had service from the owner who knew a local and was chatting it up and it was extremely eerily but peacefully quiet lol, had the Spanish tortilla, the next meats and cheeses, and the meatballs and all were pretty decent and traditional not a bad one time experience
